We are now an OPAL HONOURS SCHOOL. We have acheived the PLATINUM award three times over, which means we are one of only 15 schools Nationwide to receive this accolade.
OPAL - Outdoor Play And Learning
We have engaged with the OPAL Primary Programme to support us in promoting freedom for children to explore and play in their own imaginative ways outdoors. Hill View we began our OPAL journey in 2017 and we are pleased to announce that as of Summer 2024 we have been awarded the Platinum Award for the second time!
The Why
Play is the process through which children learn everything that they need to know that cannot be taught. Play wires the brain, builds capable bodies, and is the foundation of building relationships.
OPAL's programme enables schools to provide every child with rich opportunities to be creative, collaborative and active in their outdoor play, in environments that are safe enough for 'health and safety' but challenging enough for children's ongoing development.

Through this kind of outdoor play not only are our children more active at school they are also having the opportunity to further develop life skills such as cooperation, team work and problem solving. They are becoming motivated and enthusiastic builders, engineers, explorers and designers.

Our OPAL Champion Miss Swan!
Miss Swan is a member of our support staff who has previously worked as a PE teacher and now she brings those skills to our OPAL offer. She leads a variety of sports games in a dedicated zone on the yard every lunchtime. She is able to inspire and target specific children and she provides a range of sports for children to try something new.
