This year, more than ever, our children need experiential learning outdoors to support their mental health and wellbeing. We continue to recognise the importance of our outdoor classrooms when providing our children with rich opportunities to lead and enhance their own learning. We aim to give our children the time and space to recover from the adverse experiences of the last year, to reconnect with the world and rediscover the joy of play with their friends.
At Hill View Infant Academy outdoor learning is an integral part of our curriculum and ethos. Our children get muddy and they love it!
Children lead their own learning and staff help them to develop skills such as working as a team, developing resilience and connecting with each other.
Our children develop their language and listening skills, telling each other stories and hypothesising about events in the natural world. We share what we find and explain our ideas to each other.
We solve problems together and push ourselves to take risks. We develop our friendships and make each other feel safe.

Our staff loved updating their own skills at our Outdoor Learning workshops. They received high quality training from Hannah at Playology Beach School and Learning Studio and Chris Harman 'The Den Man'. They shared ideas and techniques to enhance our school's outdoor curriculum.
